A Message From the Chairman

Following a long winter, the preparations for the 2023 season are well under way. Indoor club nets have begun throughout the juniors and adult teams. This is a great opportunity to start working on your game to make the summer as enjoyable as you can.

The committee are working hard in the background to continue to create a club that gets everybody involved and that everyone can enjoy.

Look out for information as we get closer to the season in particular on social activities and things to get involved in.

There has been more discussions on looking at a potential new pavilion project..... not a small or quick project but certainly one which will cement the future of our great club. As ever, none of this happens without volunteers, so many of our members and associates have great skills that we could use but feel that they can't help.....Believe me, we are looking for all sorts of helpers at all levels for varying tasks. If you can help in anyway please get in touch. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I hope to see lots of you over the course of the season...Lets hope for great weather to match our ambition!!!

Meet Your Committee and Coaching Team

The club's Committee and Coaching team do lots of fantastic work behind the scenes to keep the club running and enabling you to enjoy your passion of playing cricket.

Our committee make the magic happen! We have a great selection of members spread across all functions and teams to ensure that all voices are being heard and to present ideas to keep the club evolving with the modern times. In this issue, we couldn't fit all members in, however throughout the year, they will be recognized for their contributions.

You will have heard potential plans for a new pavilion which will require a sub-committee. We are needing additional volunteers for this to work and so are calling on every member, player, parent and helper to get involved. We need a variety of skills so if your unsure if you can help, please reach out to a committee member for a no pressure chat.

Our coaching team are already hard at work delivering coaching sessions at indoor nets and planning the training sessions for the season ahead. The junior section has seen an increase of new players especially in the girls, u11's, u13's & u14 sides which is very encouraging!

We have welcomed 3 new coaches who have now passed their certifications meaning the coaching team now have 12 ECB qualified coaches and 4 support coaches and a handful of parent helpers! Great work!

We Couldn't Do It Without You!

The success of our club and being able to put on the games, training, maintenance of grounds and facilities is all down to a collection of volunteers.

This season we are in need of more volunteers in various positions across the club to help share the load with those that already do so much for us.

We hope that with a good amount of additional volunteers, a rota can be created ensuring a fair share for everyone. The more people that can help, the better!

If anyone would like to be involved, below are some of the roles we require volunteers for

  • 1st team scorer - Equipment and training will be provided
  • Sunday caterer - A set sum is provided to cover the cost of teas
  • Events planner / helper
  • Fund raiser's
  • Bar staff
  • Caterers & food servers
  • Support coach / parent helpers

If you are able to help out in anyway, please email the club worlingtoncricketclub@gmail.com or reach out to any committee member, coach or captain

SAVE THE DATE - GROUNDFORCE WEEKEND

Please markthe weekend of the 1st & 2nd April in your diaries as we aim to use the weekend to get Worlington Cricket Club prepped and ready for the season. Groundforce Weekend is a great way to build early season camaraderie as we work together to tick off the jobs that need doing around the ground in order to get ready for the summer.

It would be great to see as many people as possible taking part, even if you can only spare a couple of hours, to ensure that we get everything done. More details to follow so keep an eye on Teamo and your WhatsApp groups!
